This construction timber is processed from imported Radiata Pine (New Zealand/Australia origin) or Hemlock (North American origin). Unlike local fast-growing softwoods, these species offer superior fiber density and structural stability. They are less prone to twisting or warping when exposed to the sun on construction sites, ensuring your wall and slab formwork remains straight.
The key to a good timber beam is dimension accuracy. This product is S4S (Surfaced 4 Sides), meaning all four sides are planed smooth. This guarantees a uniform thickness (e.g., exactly 40mm), which is critical for leveling the formwork system. Rough-sawn timber might be cheaper, but the uneven surface will cause concrete leakage and uneven slabs.
Role: These beams act as the “ribs” (Secondary & Primary beams) supporting the plywood face.
Recommendation: For slab support, we recommend the 40x90mm size spaced at 200-300mm intervals. For heavy load-bearing beams, upgrade to 50x100mm. The wood has good nail-holding power, allowing plywood to be fixed securely without splitting the beam.
